On April 29, 2020, we decided to open Barnacle Billy's (original) for takeout with a starting date of May 8, 2020 at 11:00 AM. We will be open daily starting at 11:00 AM through until closing at 8:00 PM. We will be open in this manner until we get the okay to open full time with both restaurants or we find that we need different starting and ending times. We will be closed on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday during this "Takeout Period". Menu items will include most of the items found at our original restaurant including lobsters, steamed clams, clam chowder, drinks (alcohol and non-alcoholic beverages including our rum punch), lobster rolls and our grill items (hamburgers & hot dogs). The dessert menu with include only five or six flavors of ice cream and blueberry pie for Mother's Day Weekend. We may adjust this later. We will also be serving items from the menu at Barnacle Billy's, Etc. including fish chowder (You're welcome, Charlie), cocktail shrimp, and some fried food items including chicken, haddock, scallops, clams and northern shrimp, served with French fries. Orders will be taken by phone by calling 207-646-5575. At this time, dining will not be allowed on the property. But we will have unlimited parking available. Parking will be limited to twenty minutes as per order of our Ogunquit Police Department. They have asked us to inform our patrons not to eat in the car. We also are not allowed to have you drink alcoholic beverages in the car either. We are trying to work with the OPD, to mirror the new town Covid-19 safety ordinances. Takeout service will be available at the window, as well as a pickup service for curb side assistance for those who are uncomfortable with standing in a pickup line. As per the order of Ogunquit's Selectmen, our bathrooms are not going to be open. Nor, so I have been told, will the public restrooms be open at the end of the Cove past the footbridge. I heard this from our Town Manager.
Face coverings will be required when ordering at the takeout window. This can be a bandanna, as long as the mouth and nose are covered. We can provide a face mask if you don't have one. In order to access our takeout menu on this site, you can find "takeout menu" in the header bar located on the home page or on the header bar on the menu page.
This whole operation resides under purview of the Maine CDC guidelines, the rules set forth by the town and the needs of the OPD. I'm anticipating that it will run smoothly. I am also prepared to change things to make it so, in case things go south. Regardless, I am going to make sure, to the best of my ability, to keep our employees, our patrons and those near Barnacle Billy's as safe as possible in the process.
Tomorrow, we are going to have a dry run to see how the operation works. We have some serious rum punch critics and some serious regular patrons who we will be relying on in this process. I am really looking forward to seeing everyone. Unfortunately, there will be no handshakes, hugs or kisses!
